d line celebrates 45 years of design excellence

In 1971, d line‘s first lever, the U-shape, Ø14 mm, was manufactured. It was followed by the L-shape, which firmly established the d line ethos of stalwart, minimalist design. The overriding characteristic of these first two levers has been maintained in d line products ever since: the bent sections on all metal tubes maintain the radius of the even sections. This ensures a well balanced visual impression.

Holscher’s work with ironmongery began in the early 1960’s when he was the supervising architect on St. Catherine’s College in Oxford and associated with Arne Jacobsen. Holscher remembers ‘thumbing through stacks of brochures to add bits and pieces together to make a scheme of ironmongery. As there were no coordinated series of ironmongery in the 60’s, it was a most opportune offer Holscher got on his return to Denmark.

I am proud to have been involved with this iconic brand of products since 2003.

Since 1949, the Meneghetti family has been involved in making kitchen appliances for a number of other manufacturers including Zanussi, Smeg, Ilve and Blanco. They are also great innovators, having produced the first pyloric oven in Europe in 1991.
In 2009, Meneghetti Spa acquires Fulgor, rebrands it Fulgor Milano,  and embark on creating a completely new range of products with the design community in mind.
Earlier this year, Fulgor Milano opened their first Showroom in Willoughby and appointed Archinterface to liaise with the A & D community to promote this new range of appliances in Australia. Jean-Marie's passion for food and cooking, as well as his reputation amongst architects and interior designers were key to Archinterface's appointment. We are really excited about this new venture and we are planning several events in the coming weeks to introduce these products to you.

New Bar, Gaming and Restaurant in PNG - Cullen Feng Architects
Archinterface has helped Cullen Feng Architects specifying Innowood decking and cladding products on this job in Papua New Guinea, our first export project.
Both our new Millboard decking system and our established cladding extrusion were chosen for their durability and low maintenance in the difficult local climate.
We are currently manufacturing and will be supplying this job in a few weeks.

We have just completed the Lutron lighting control system at the Mercure Hotel in Brisbane

The Mercure Hotel in Brisbane is part of the large portfolio of hotels owned by the Accor Group around Australia. WMK and iLab were responsible for the interiors and the lighting design. Opal Lighting and other lighting suppliers were involved in supplying all the light fittings and Lutron was chosen as the new lighting control system for the newly refurbished restaurant on Level 2. Archinterface was asked to design the Lutron system and to commission it, which we finalised last week.
One of the reason why Lutron was chosen was because of the simplicity of the technical solution to integrate standard LED light fittings, linear LED strips and Linear LED RGB luminaires and control the existing MR16 downlights.
Two Grafik-Eye QS manage two DALI loops and about 50 DALI drivers, and a slave ESN phase adaptative dimming module with 4 circuits to accommodate the existing MR16 downlight. The internal astronomical clock manages the entire system and rotate the settings into 4 different time events to accommodate the various moods over breakfast, lunch, dinner and late nights at the bar. Settings can be overridden by the staff at any time and the system will revert automatically to its presets at the next time event. The cost of the system was very competitive at less than 10K$.

A big thank you to all my supporters out there, architects, interior and lighting designers, and electrical engineers who have made this new venture a success.
I should also thank all my suppliers who trust me to promote their products towards the architectural and design community, get them specified and transform these specifications into orders. We have been careful in our selection of products and have tried to find synergies between them, so we could offer your clients innovative and eco-friendly solutions to enhance your designs. We intend to continue this way!

Mercure Hotel Restaurant and Bar in Brisbane - Photo supplied
We are currently awaiting delivery of light fittings from other suppliers to be able to commission a brand new LUTRON Lighting Control System for the main restaurant at the Mercure Hotel in Brisbane. The talented iLAB Lighting Designers kindly specified a smart LUTRON system for controlling all the light fittings included in their specification. Most of the fixtures are DALI driven and some circuits use phase dimming. Using two 16-zone DALI GrafiK-Eye QS and a slave ESN Adaptative phase dimmer, we were able to control the whole space with quite a lot less than 10K$.
We also supplied (on time...) a few OPAL LIGHTING downlight. We will be commissioning this project in the next week or so, so stay tuned for more photos!
